Islington is full of boutiques, bars and restaurants that offer something for everyone. With an excellent art scene this area is guaranteed to offer a daytrip or a big night out that suits you.
There’s plenty to please everyone at the sophisticated palate in N1. Finding a good place to eat and drink is not a hard task in this great area. No matter what you’re in the mood for, Islington has it all.
The Caledonian Road Festival in which thousands of people are expected to attend the 2015 edition of this annual one-day festival which sees the Caledonian Road closed to traffic and filled with entertainment. The main stage will host performances from local talent; Story Street will be home to poetry and spoken word. A Caribbean party and sound-system will pop up on Lyon Street and the Arty Block Party is your chance to get creative. Other fun to look out for include a penalty shootout with Arsenal FC, a bus stop dance-floor, street food stands, a fancy dress competition and a costumed drumming parade. This year’s festival will be on Sunday 14th June 2015, from 12 till 6pm.
Although Chapel Market’s usual market is open from Tuesday to Sunday weekly, if you prefer your markets a little more organic, then visit on a Sunday, when the Islington farmers’ market is held, offering the usual selection of local and organic products.
For the arts you can visit the 1A ARTS Open Studio & Exhibition.
At the annual exhibition you will see the wonderful work created by the young participants attending the art projects over the last year. There will also be an opportunity to take part a drop-in art activity. This will take place on Thursday, 18 June 2015 from 3:30pm – 7pm this will suit Children (5 to 11), Young People (12+), and Adults. This event has free attendance and refreshments will be provided.
For something different you could always try the ‘Street Art Walking Tour’ in Camden Town. Discover a different side to Camden Town. The guides will talk about street art and the artists who created them. Hear about different techniques and the meaning behind the pieces. This is a 90 minutes walking tour suitable for all ages. Whatever your interest there will always be plentiful for everyone in this great community!!
